What is "dpi" and "ppi"?

Scanning should be done at 300-600dpi (dots per inch) or at least 300x300ppi (pixels per inch). For example, a 3"x3" photo at 600dpi would scan in at 1200x1200ppi. Most photo and copy shops will scan your photo(s) onto a CD for you. If you mail us your originals, we will scan them in for you. Be sure to mail them in a sturdy packet so they don't bend!

What kinds of files do we send?

Any kind of photo file extension is OK, such as .jpg, .tif, .gif, or .bmp...just send as an attachment in an email to pattifairbrother@comcast.net (for quotes). Please do not send Adobe Acrobat ™ files, as these can't be easily enhanced. (These are .pdf files.)

What do we need to tell you?

Just tell us all the enhancements and changes you want done. We will email or telephone you just to be sure. You can also complete the Contact Us / Orders form on the last page of this website. Use pattifairbrother@comcast.net , or call us at (925) 349-4556 if you have questions or need help with anything.

What else do we tell you?

• What kinds of files do you want on your CD? (You can ask for more than 1 type!)
• How many prints do you want?
• What size(s) should the prints be? (examples: 5x7" and/or 8x10")
  On glossy or matt photo paper?
• Borders: What shape? Just white borders, special borders, or none?
• Do you have a deadline? By what date would you like your photos done?

How does the whole quote and order process work?

We will review your photo(s) and email or call you with a quote. Most photos can be enhanced and/or restored for $50-$200 and be ready within 48 hours. We charge $50-75 per hour, depending on the work involved, and break our work into quarter-hour segments, or 15-minute blocks.

If you like our quote, please fill out the Order Form, and send it via email together with your scanned original. You can also mail us a CD with your photo(s) burned onto it, or send us your original photo(s) if you want us to scan them for you.

Please allow 2-3 days, depending on the number of photos sent, for us to enhance and restore your images. We have an excellent reputation for meeting tight deadlines, but our craft is one that can't be rushed!

When we have finished your photos, we will email you a low-resolution file for you to take a look at to be sure that you are completely happy. (It's like getting proofs from your photographer.) We work closely with you throughout the entire process to be sure you are completely satisfied. After making any fine-tuning adjustments you might like and receiving your payment (mail your check payable to "pattisphotoshop.com" or use PayPal), we will burn your enhanced / restored photos onto a CD in a high-resolution format of your choice and mail your prints and CD to you in a secure manner -- insured and tracked!

All original photos and prints will be returned to you in a sturdy packet, together with a CD of your enhanced photos via USPS Express or Priority Mail (which will have a tracking number) or overnight courier such as FedEx, UPS, etc.
